What is Upbound
The mission of Upbound was to create the open cloud computing platform, to empower developers with more choice and service providers with broad integration.
Establishing distinctive corporate identities for Upbound and its secondary brands Crossplane and Rook in the cloud computing field versus competitors. The goal of all these brands is to assist developers using Kubernetes, which breaks down barriers and enables multi-cloud flexibility.
Objective
My position was to find a way to maintain the foundation that was here but to add joy and engagement to the brand. Those elements were needed to attract developers to Upbound’s product. By designing illustrations, iconography, colors and web design layouts I aimed to create engagement with potential users. Upbound could position itself as unique and delightful experience among competitors. The results would be enabling Upbound to be worthy of investigation among a sea of startups.
My approach to design and maintain Upbound’s brand was to encapsulate values that the company held close. One of those was “freedom of movement” the ability for developers to have choice in their cloud environments. Through the choice of illustrations and color I wanted to convey that feeling to the audience.
